Zoom to

If you would like to auto zoom to a section of the country please enter your town or postcode in the box,  click the "Zoom To" button and the map will then "Zoom To" and centre on your chosen location.

Get Directions

If you would like to check a route from A to B to see if it has any incidents or roadworks on it enter your start point (from), your finish destination (to) and click search. This will bring up the quickest calculated route between your start and finish points.

You can enter a village, town or city or the postcode in the boxes to get your directions.

If you would like to see the driving directions turn by turn click the show directions button and the directions will be shown. At this stage in our development of the site, get directions is not available with Mozilla Firefox and some other browsers and for all browsers you will need to use print screen to print off the route and directions. We recommend Internet Explorer version 7 which you can download for free here.

To clear a route select Maps from the menu bar or refresh the screen.

Toggle Low Impact Road Works 

 "Toggle Low-Impact Road Works" turns on or off the low impact incidents and roadworks. Click on the wording to change what you would like to see. The green tick indicates that the all the road works are showing.

Important Behind The Scenes Changes

The traffic information now updates on your screen automatically every 5 minutes. As before you can refresh the screen at anytime to get quicker changes. One more clever development:  as long as you have accepted our cookies then the last view you had on the screen will reappear when you re-load trafficeye. We hope this will save you time finding the information relevant to you. 

Weather

We have added the current weather for your information. The Weather information shown is for the centre of the map you are viewing. It shows the current weather, the temperature, the wind speed and direction and is updated every 15 minutes.

As always we would like your feedback on these changes so we can ensure we are providing you with a valuable resource.

3D

Please avoid using the 3D functionality on trafficeye at the moment.  As you can see it is still in beta (test) stage and we have found that it may cause the screen to lock up when used with trafficeye. Please see the "Service status"  for how to rectify this you need to delete your cookies. When we get a better handle on how it works and how it interacts with trafficeye we will update this section. In the meantime please avoid if possible. However, it is  a very clever piece of software and if you would like to try the 3d maps or the mapping without the traffic information they are available at http://local.live.com .

Mozilla Firefox Issues

We are aware that some of the functionality doesn't work  with Mozilla Firefox, whilst we have managed to overcome some of the issues, there are some that we can't overcome :-(
